The list of riders has been announced and the eventing world is gearing up for the second annual Wellington Eventing Showcase to be held February 5th & 6th, 2016 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida!

Last year, the PBIEC hosted the inaugural $50,000 Wellington Eventing Showcase, the brainchild of Mark Bellissimo and Equestrian Sport Productions. The event was created to showcase the sport of eventing to a broader equestrian market and to provide a more spectator friendly format. The event not only provided the opportunity for spectators to view the dressage, stadium and cross country phases from one central vantage point, but it also provided an engaging environment for owners and sponsors.

In speaking with last year’s winner, Boyd Martin, he enthusiastically supports this new showcase venue for the sport of eventing. “Last year’s event was a roaring success and this year’s promises to be even more exciting with increased prize money and a more competitive international field of event riders. The quality of the competitors representing the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia really raises the bar.”

This year, Wellington Equestrian Realty is thrilled to be the Presenting Sponsor of the $75,000 Eventing Showcase. Rob and Chris Desino, founding owners of Wellington Equestrian Realty and Ocala Horse Properties, already have a strong presence in the eventing community in Florida. The brothers originally relocated to Ocala from the northeast in order to compete in eventing during the winter season. Their equestrian roots became the reason that they decided to settle in Ocala and this passion for the Florida horse community evolved into a thriving real estate venture. Today the Desino brothers support nearly every riding discipline by remaining extremely active in horse show sponsorship and community events.

Liz Halliday-Sharp, who placed 5th last year right behind Jennie Brannigan, plans to bring both her top level horses for the event. She became acquainted with Rob and Chris Desino in 2013, when she and her husband were looking to invest in a winter training facility in Ocala. She is happy to see the Eventing Showcase return to Wellington for a second season.

“It’s great for our sport to offer competitors serious prize money while treating sponsors and owners to a higher profile scene. It’s a huge deal that Wellington Equestrian Realty is supporting this.”

Jennie Brannigan, an international level event rider who placed 4th last year in the Eventing Showcase, winters in Ocala to train with show jumper Scott Keach.

“The Desino brothers are synonymous with horse sport in Florida and they’re very supportive of our industry. They get involved in so many events at the ground level and we’re all very appreciative of that.”

This year as presenting sponsor, Wellington Equestrian Realty joins returning title sponsor Asheville Regional Airport, along with Equestrian Sport Productions, Rolex, Land Rover, Ariat and Adequan in supporting this exciting venue. Word has gotten out in the community about the popularity of this event and expectations are for a full house.

Matt Varney and Craig Martin of Wellington Equestrian Realty are proud to be involved in hosting this premier eventing showcase at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington during an Olympic year.

“We want event riders, owners and spectators to feel at home in Wellington the way they do in Ocala.”

General admission and parking at the event are complimentary, but there are also VIP tables available which includes drinks, lunch and preferred viewing of the entire event spanning two days.
