WEF Mid-Season Highlights and Upcoming Action at PBIEC!

Wellington Equestrian Realty continues to be an active partner and proud sponsor of the Wellington Equestrian Festival (WEF).

The core portion of the “AA Circuit” at WEF spans a 12 week period from January through March and features multi-level competition for hunter and jumpers. Amateur, junior and pro riders, ranging in skill level from lead-line to grand prix, flock to WEF for the finest in horse sport. WEF is not only a magnificent sports complex but also a destination resort in itself. Whether you are a competitor, spectator, visitor or full-time resident, each week at WEF the action and entertainment are non-stop!

We will continue to bring you updates from the three main competition venues which fall under the umbrella of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center which includes: WEF, Global Dressage, and the International Polo Club.

WEF Week 6 Highlights:

Last week, Scott Stewart and Catch Me won their second consecutive $100,000 WCHR Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular. Pedro Muylaert (BRA) won Friday night’s 3* Grand Prix; Ecuador’s Diego Vivero won the National Grand Prix, and Marilyn Little (USA) won the Suncast® 1.50m Championship  Jumper Classic. The Hollow Creek Under 25 Welcome presented by EnTrust Capital was won by Lucy Deslauriers, and Ireland’s Daniel Coyle took first place in the Hollow Creek U25 Grand Prix, also presented by EnTrust Capital.

WEF Week 7 Featured Events and Competitions:

WEF Week 7 is sponsored by Suncast®, a market leader in custom wood structures and high-quality resin products made in the USA for over 25 years, and features the second week of 5* competition of the 2017 season. Livestreaming this week is available here.

Highlights of PBIEC events this week include:

  • Thursday, 11:30 am-1 pm: Lunch & Learn. Topic: “Invisible Workers: The Crucial Role of Working Equines in Sustaining Livelihoods and Food Security” with Kimberly Wells, Senior Animal Welfare Advisor, and special appearances by Brooke USA Ambassadors, presented by Brooke USA. (Wellington Club)
  • Thursday, 12 pm: $130,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup (International Arena)
  • Thursday, 7 pm: Gladiator Polo presented by U.S. Polo Association. (13500 South Shore Blvd). Tables/tickets available here.
  • Friday, 7 pm: FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W presented by Axel Johnson Group (Stadium Global Dressage Arena, 13500 South Shore Blvd). Free general admission/parking $10/car.
  • Saturday, 7pm: $380,000 Suncast® Grand Prix CSI 5* (International Arena). Free general admission (parking fees apply).
  •  Sunday, 10:30am: $86,000 Suncast® 1.50m Championship Jumper Classic followed by $50,000 CSI 2* Grand Prix (International Arena)
