If you’re in Wellington through the end of the season, it’s time to get out and take in all the equestrian competition that you can pack into your schedule.
The winter circuit will soon be coming to a close, but that means there are plenty of fun events on the competition calendar.
The following events are all held at WEF and around the corner at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, so a week of accessible equestrian entertainment is right within reach!
WEF Jumpers at Saturday Night Lights!
There are 3 main events left on the Saturday Night Lights schedule, and they conclude with the $500K Rolex Grand Prix the first weekend in April. Each event is held from 7-10pm on Saturday night and is free to the public!
- 3/19 Saturday Night Lights $130K Horseware Ireland Grand Prix 3*
- 3/26 Saturday Night Lights: $130,000 Engel & Völkers Grand Prix
- 4/2 Saturday Night Lights: $500,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI5*
Hunters Showcase Their Beauty
Why not take in some of the Show Hunter action in the Grand Hunter or Rost Arena? The day schedule is packed with Green Hunter through the Working Hunter classes. You will certainly watch some of the top professional hunter riders in the nation.
Championship Hunter week was held during February and that week the professional hunter riders were given their opportunity under the Saturday Night Lights to shine in the $100,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular. This class was founded by the US Hunter Jumper Association to celebrate top hunter riders and the beauty of their sport.
Scott Stewart and Catch Me clinched the win in the Championship class, and continued their hot-streak with two other championships that week. “Perennial favorite Scott Stewart of Flemington, NJ, captured two championships today; he rode Dr. Betsee Parker’s A Million Reasons to the tricolor in the High Performance Hunter division and David Gochman’s Catch Me to the Equine Tack & Nutritionals Second Year Green Working Hunter championship.
Adequan Global Dressage Festival

Drive around the corner to the Adequan Global Dressage Festival! Don’t worry; there won’t be a conflict with the Grand Prix Jumping, as “Friday Night Star” gives you the opportunity to see the best of the best on the best on the large tour with Grand Prix Freestyle those nights.

“The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) welcomes back international competition this week to Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) as the facility prepares to host the AGDF 10 CDI 4* presented by Havensafe Farm, CDI 3* presented by The Dutta Corporation, and CDI 1* presented by Mike & Roz Collins.
The 2016 Florida International Youth Dressage Championships, presented by the Davis family, Kim Boyer, Dressage 4 Kids, and the Kane Family, will run in conjunction with the CDI 4*/3*/1* competition throughout the week, allowing top young riders the opportunity to compete in a major international setting at AGDF.
Competition will begin Wednesday, March 16, and continue through Sunday, March 20. The AGDF 10 “Friday Night Stars” FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI 4*, presented by Havensafe Farm, will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18.”
