This past weekend, a large group of supporters from both Wellington Equestrian Realty and Ocala Horse Properties came together at the 2020 Mars Wellington Eventing Showcase to witness a brilliant display of some of the top eventing talent in this country. Topping that list was our own, Liz Halliday-Sharp, riding Ocala Horse Properties’ Deniro Z and the Monster Group’s Cooley Quicksilver.
The performance of Liz with both these horses was exceptional, and a great indicator for the season ahead. The dressage phase allowed all the riders to get in the ring to practice the new 5* test, and Liz felt both horses preformed beautifully. “Deniro had a few little mistakes in the test, but we’re early season and have the opportunity to work out the wobbles and really practice that test. It was great to have the 5* test the younger horse, as it was a great experience for Monster stepping up to this level.”
Liz also mentioned what a benefit it was to show jump on the grass, before conquering the cross country course on the same exceptional turf. Liz has competed at this showcase in the past, but the change of venue for the show jumping phase was a great addition this year.
Liz stated that, “Both horses jumped great and gave me such a good feel in showjumping and XC, and to have them both finish on their dressage scores was amazing! The course was really cool – big in height, asked a lot of the horses, and the grass was incredible surface. It was a great start to season!”
Liz’s supporters at Ocala Horse Properties and Wellington Equestrian Realty were equally as thrilled with the weekend. As supporting sponsors of the event, it was an amazing weekend of gathering together with friends and clients who equally love horse sport.
Matt Varney summarized the weekend perfectly, “Ocala Horse Properties has sponsored many equestrian events across the country and this weekend was a perfect example of why we do it.
“There is simply nothing better than watching hard working people succeed at doing what they love, while surrounded by the true and genuine support of clients, colleagues, friends and family. Special congrats to Liz Halliday-Sharp and Al Sharp, we are so proud of you. “
Keep an eye on Liz and her amazing string of horses this spring at events leading up to the Kentucky 3 Day Event. Leading up to Kentucky for Deniro Z will be Bruce’s Field in Aiken, then Carolina, The Fork and then Kentucky. “Monster” is aimed at Pinetop advanced, to Ocala Horse Properties’ Eventing Prix, Stable View’s 4*, Ocala Horse Park and then Jersey Fresh in May. Cooley Moonshine will also be contesting his first advanced at Pinetop in 2 weeks.
We hope you enjoy the photo journals from this fantastic weekend, and look forward to seeing everyone out on the competition road this 2020 season!
