One of the most fun and anticipated events of the season is the Great Charity Challenge, to be held as part of the Winter Equestrian Festival on Saturday, February 4, 2017, in the International Ring of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Founded in 2010 by the Bellissimo family, the GCC is a relay-style jumping competition between teams made up of two junior / amateur riders and one Olympic or world-class rider. The teams are paired with 30+ local, non-profit organizations serving Palm Beach County.

Since its inception, GCC has distributed over $9.2 million to 197 Palm Beach County charities. Among the many charities that have benefited from past years are the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Kids Cancer Foundation, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure (South Florida chapter). Applications for charities wanting to participate in the challenge were due on November 15, and rider teams will be selecting their partner charities in a random draw on the evening of December 3, 2016. This event is open and free to the public.
